Event Hosted to Spread a Culture of Peace

NEW YORK, NY, March 25, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — On Saturday, March 22nd, more than 100 participants, including community and religious leaders, joined Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in commemorating the ninth anniversary of its international law for peace proclaimed on March 14, 2016. The event took place at the CUNY School of Law and was co-hosted by Save the People, the Hindu Temple Society of North America, United Sikhs and the Sarvamangala Shri Saneeswara Temple NY.

HWPL is an international peace NGO in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Out of the 10 articles and 38 clauses included in the organization’s international law for peace, the event focused on articles 8-10, highlighting the importance of fostering religious freedom, promoting peaceful coexistence among religious and ethnic groups, and spreading a global culture of peace.

HWPL’s legal framework can also be used to facilitate the implementation of UN sustainable development goals 16 and 17. SDG 16 promotes peaceful and inclusive societies and SDG 17 encourages global partnerships to achieve sustainable development.

The gathering featured special performances from HWPL volunteers, as well as performers affiliated with the United Sikhs and the Hindu Temple Society of North America. Guests also had the opportunity to hear remarks from HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee delivered at the main commemoration event in South Korea hosted on March 14th.

“There are things that humanity needs to keep to protect peace,” said HWPL Chairman Lee. “If we don’t work for it, who will? So even religions, we should all transcend different authorities and differences but work together as brothers and family for the shared goal of peace.”

The HWPL event in New York was one of many commemoration events hosted around the world during the month of March. The main event took place in Cheongju, South Korea.
