VIRGINIA BEACH, CA, April 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The legendary godfather of early gangster rap Schoolly D is performing in Virginia Beach with 2050Community artist collective at their live music event titled “TOGETHER”, during the Something in the Water Festival kick-off, Friday April 28th at 7pm, at Ocean House Rooftop on 1905 Atlantic Avenue. Schoolly D will DJ and perform top tracks from his long awaited, latest album “Cuz Schoolly’s Crazy, That’s Why” which features rap peers Chuck D and Ice T. This is a rare performance by this independent and game-changing pioneer who is also known for his early contributions to the groundbreaking series Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Schoolly will play the “TOGETHER” event alongside popular 2050Community local DJs– DJ Space One, DJ Natalie and DJ Class for an energetic celebration of art and beats which will highlight different eras and genres of hiphop, funk and beats heavy house. The event is also a celebration of the recent launch of Comforting Future Self, a non-profit foundation started by the Founder of 2050Community which partners with established artists and art supporters to improve conditions in some of the world’s most challenging locations. The foundation provides art and garden installations, mentoring, and funding towards income generating projects. The goal is to provide established artists and supporters a meaningful way to donate funds and lend their expertise in a way which brings hope and gives a voice to stories which get lost in the general art market. Schoolly D visits the 2050C collective during its finale “World Class” mural project featuring NYC contemporary street artist Pablo Power and local interdisciplinary artist Corey Wynn.
